Contoh narrative text panjang kali ini akan mengangkat beberapa cerita rakyat nusantara yang sudah kita kenal sejak kita masih kecil dulu. Beberapa diantaranya mungkin sudah sangat sering kita dengar, misalnya saja seperti cerita tentang Ande-Ande Lumut, Jaka Tarub, Timun Mas dan juga Cindelaras. Melihat beberapa judul yang saya sebutkan barusan, sobat pasti setuju dong kalau saya bilang bahwa contoh narrative text panjang dalam bentuk cerita rakyat kali ini akan menjadi sumber bacaan yang menarik dan tentunya juga menghibur. Contoh narrative text beserta generic structure nya kali ini saya kemas ulang dari informasi tentang cerita rakyat nusantara yang berasal dari beberapa sumber. Perlu sobat ketahui juga, cerita rakyat yang berbentuk legenda, fabel dan juga mitos akan saya bahas dalam artikel yang berbeda. Alasannya adalah untuk memudahkan sobat dalam melihat perbedaan diantara beberapa jenis narrative text tersebut. Selamat membaca dan saya harap sobat akan menyukainya.

1. Ande Ande Lumut

Orientation

Long-long time ago, there lived a handsome prince in Jenggala kingdom. His name is Panji Asmarabangun. His father, King Jayengnegara, arranged his marriage with princess Dewi Sekartaji, the daughter of King Jayengrana. Prince Panji Asmarabangun accepted his father decision happily because princess Dewi Sekartaji was so beautiful and he felt in love with her from the moment he saw her.

Complication

One day, there was a big war in the kingdom. The battle was so fierce that it could endanger the safety of princess Dewi Sekartaji. The princess ran away from the palace to protect herself without telling her husband. When the war was over, prince Panji Asmarabangun could not find his wife, so he sent some of his soldiers to search for princess Dewi Sekartaji.

Resolution

The soldiers returned to the palace and reported to prince Panji Asmarabangun that they have found princess Dewi Sekartaji. The soldiers also told him that princess Dewi Sekartaji had changed her name into Kleting Kuning and lived in the house of an evil widow. Prince Panji Asmarabangun disguised as a handsome and rich man by the name Ande Ande Lumut because he wanted to tricked the evil widow and her daughters. 2. Bawang Merah Bawang Putih

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a wealthy merchant in a small village. The merchant’s wife has passed away many years ago, so he lived only with his beautiful daughter for years. The name of his daughter is Bawang Putih. One day, the merchant decided to remarried with an old widow. The old widow also had one daughter and her name is Bawang Merah. The merchant was very happy because his new wife seemed to be care of his daughter.

Complication

One day, the merchant passed away and he gave all of his wealth to his daughter, Bawang Putih. It turned out that the old widow and her daughter were not nice people.They started to treat Bawang Putih badly ever since the merchant’s death. Bawang Putih couldn’t do anything to fight back so she followed every instructions that her step mother and step sister gave to her.

Resolution

One day, Bawang Putih met an old lady who gave her a small pumpkin as a token of gratitude for Bawang Putih’s help. She brought it back to her house. When she cut it open, she found a lot of jewelry inside the pumpkin. Her step mother and her step sister took it right away and asked her how did she managed to get the magical pumpkin. Bawang Putih told them the story and they decided to repeat the incident in order to get another pumpkin. Unfortunately when they have received the pumpkin and tried to cut it open, they found a lot of snake in it. After that, they realized their mistake and they apologized to Bawang Putih. 3. Jaka Tarub and Seven Angels

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a strong and handsome young man named Jaka Tarub in a small village in Java. He loved to hunt animals in the jungle and he was really good in using blowpipe. One day he went to the jungle to hunt a deer. He walked to far into the jungle until he reached a big lake in the middle of the jungle. He accidentally saw seven angels in the lake. They were having fun in the water and they were all very beautiful.

Complication

Jaka Tarub wanted one of them to be his wife, so he hid one of their scarf. When the angels were about to return to the sky, one of them couldn’t find her scarf. Her name was Nawangwulan. She was really sad because she couldn’t return to the sky with her sisters. Suddenly, Jaka Tarub showed up and offered his help to Nawangwulan. They returned to Jaka Tarub’s house and a couple months later they got married.

Resolution

Nawangwulan gave birth to a baby girl named Nawangsih. Every day, she took care of the baby and also the house. She also cooked meal for the family. One day, Nawangwulan found her magical scarf under the rice stock. She finally realized that Jaka Tarub was the one who hid her scarf and it made her to be disappointed to him. 4. Putri Pandan Berduri

Orientation

Once upon a time, a baby girl was found inside pandanus shrubs at the shore of Bintan island. A man who found her was the leader of the Sea Tribe of Riau islands named Batin Lagoi. He named the baby girl Putri Pandan Berduri. Years passed by and she grew into a very beautiful lady, she was always kind to other people.

Complication

Many men fell in love with her but none of them were brave enough to propose her because they consider her as nobility. Besides, his father expected her to wed a king or a leader of a place. As the consequence, Putri Pandan Berduri stayed single for years.

Resolution

One day, a prince came to their land and he started his own business. His name is Jenang Perkasa. He was always nice to every customer who came to his shop and soon he became so famous and his business grew larger quickly. Batin lagoi felt curious about Jenang Perkasa so he invited him to his house. When Jenang Perkasa came to his house, Batin Lagoi was so impressed by Jenang Perkasa’s attitude. 5. Malin Kundang

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a young man with his mother in the coastal area of West Sumatra. His name was Malin Kundang. He loved his mother so much. Every day, Malin helped his mother at the pier. One day, Malin decided to join a ship as its crew. He wanted to change his life to be better than his current condition. His mother let him go with tears on her cheek.

Complication

With the knowledge that he got from other ship’s crew, Malin succesfully built his own fleet with more than 100 employee. He also wedded a very beautiful girl. With all of his achievement, he forgot about his mother who lived in poverty.

Resolution

One day, Malin and his wife went on a sea voyage. They accidentally docked at the pier of Malin’s hometown. Malin’s mother who saw him from distance run toward him right away because she missed him so much. She hugged Malin so tight but Malin pushed her until she fell to the ground. Malin’s mother was so disappointed to him so she prayed to God and asked for punishment on Malin’s wrongdoing. Suddenly, Malin’s body and his entire ship turned into coral. Read full story..

6. Golden Snail

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived two princess with contradictory character. Their name were Dewi Galuh and Candra Kirana. Even though they were sibling, but they were totally different. Dewi Galuh was evil and envious while Candra Kirana was beautiful dan kind.

Complication

One day, Candra Kirana got engaged with a very handsome man named Raden Inu Kertapati. Dewi Galuh who was in love with the man too was very jealous. She tried to find a way to get rid of Candra Kirana. She sent a witch to turn Candra Kirana into a golden snail.

Resolution

Raden Inu Kertapati searched for Candra Kirana everywhere but he couldn’t find her. He entered one village after another just to find his beloved fiancee until one day he found her in a small hut far away from the palace. She told him everything and after that they returned to the palace. When they arrived at the palace, they reported everything to the king and the king decided to punish Dewi Galuh. Before the king decided the punishment for Dewi Galuh, she ran away to the forest and she fell into a cliff. 7. Timun Mas

Orientation

Long-long time ago, there lived an old widow. She was very lonely since her husband passed away many years ago. She kept asking for a child to the God to be her companion. Even though she didn’t have husband anymore but she believed that she could have a child one day.

Complication

One day, a giant gave her an offer. The giant would give a baby girl to the old widow but she had to return the child to the giant when the child had grown up into a beautiful teenager. The old widow took the offer without much consideration. So the old widow brought the baby girl back to her house and named her Timun Mas. They lived happily until one night the giant showed up in the old widow’s dream asking for the child.

Resolution

The old widow and Timun Mas asked for help from an ascetic man. When they arrived at the place they told their problem to the ascetic man and he gave them four small bundles that they can use as weapons to fight the giant. The next day when the giant came to their house, Timun Mas and her mother were ready with their weapon. Finally, they managed to defeat the giant and Timun Mas won. Read full story..

8. Sarip Tambak Oso

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a martial art expert in Tambak Oso village. His name is Sarip. He possesed a supernatural power that allow him to revive whenever he die. In order to activate this power, he need his mother to stay alive, because his soul was linked to his mother soul, and this what make him to be immortal.

Complication

One day, Sarip’s uncle tricked his mother and took a pond that was once belong to his father. This condition has made Sarip’s mother to lose source of income, and in consequences, Sarip’s mother was unable to pay tax to the colonial government. Sarip tried to confront his uncle but his uncle was protected by a skillful fighter.

Resolution

Sarip had a fight with his uncle body guard but he lose. The bodyguard throw Sarip’s body into the river. Luckily, Sarip’s mother found him and he returned from the death. Sarip rested at his house for a couple of days and when he had regain his strength he returned to his uncle house and challenge the bodyguard for the second time, and this time he won the fight. 9. Cindelaras

Orientation

Once upon a time, a boy named Cindelaras lived with his mother in a jungle. They lived happily together although Cindelaras never knew that his mother was actually a queen and his father was the king of Jenggala Kingdom. Every day, he played with animals in the jungle and he never asked about his father to his mother.

Complication

One day, he found a chicken egg in the jungle. He took it and decided to bring it back to his house. He showed it to his mother and kept it until the egg hatched. Cindelaras kept the chicken until it grew into a strong rooster. One day, the rooster started to talk like human. It kept saying the same thing over and over again and it was:

“My master is Cindelaras”

“His house is in the middle of jungle”

“His father is Raden Putra”

Resolution

Cindelaras asked about his father to his mother. Finally, he learned the truth that his father was the king of Jenggala Kingdom. After that he decided to go to see his father at the palace. He had a chance to see his father face to face for the first time through cockfighting. His rooster won the fight and he told the truth about himself and his mother to the king. After that, the king asked Cindelaras and his mother to return to the palace. Read full story..

10. Leungli

Orientation

Long long time ago, there lived a beautiful girl in a small village. She was so nice and her name is Nyi Bungsu Rarang. She had six sisters who always treated her badly. She did all the house chores such as cooking and washing the clothes. One day, she met a magical goldfish in the river and they soon became friend. The goldfish name was Leungli.

Complication

Nyi Bungsu’s sister suspected the changes in Nyi Bungsu behavior since she met Leungli. She often spent time at the river and rarely stayed at home. One day they followed Nyi Bungsu to the river and caught the goldfish. They brought it back to their house and cooked it.

Resolution

Nyi Bungsu was so sad to see the remains of her best friend on a plate. She brought it to her backyard and buried it there. The next day a tree with golden leaves grew on top of Leungli’s graveyard. The news about the golden tree spread among the villagers. One day a prince came to see the golden tree and he fell in love with Nyi Bungsu. 11. Damarwulan

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a queen who love to conquer many regions. Her name was Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. One day she held a fighting contest because a very powerful man by the name Minakjinggo wanted to attack her kingdom after she let down the man’s proposal. Of all contestants a man by the name Damarwulan appeared to be the strongest of all.

Complication

Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu sent Damarwulan to defeat Minakjinggo, but he failed to do it because Minakjinggo had a very powerful heirloom named Gada Wesi Kuning. After that, Minakjinggo throw Damarwulan to a jail. From the jail, Damarwulan try to seduce Minakjinggo’s concubine and he managed to make them agreed to help him stole Minakjinggo’s heirloom.

Resolution

Damarwulan challenged Minakjinggo for the second time. He succesfully defeat Minakjinggo this time because he hold Minakjinggo’s heirloom in his hand. After that he returned to the kingdom and reported the victory to Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. At the end, the queen and Damarwulan got married and became the ruler of the kingdom. Read full story..

12. Lebai Malang

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a spiritual teacher with a wishy washy character. He always got confused whenever he needed to decide between two options. He lived at the river in West Sumatra. People in his village called him “Pak Lebai”. It was the way for the people in the village to address a spiritual teacher. He used boat whenever he wanted to go to any place.

Complication

One day two of his neighbors invited him to attend two wedding parties located in two different places. One of it was located in downstream side of the river and the other one was located in headstream side of the river. Pak Lebai was confused to choose between the two parties because both of it were on the same day.

Resolution

Pak Lebai tried to attend the party at the headstream side of the river, in the middle of the way he change his mind and he turned his boat to the downstream side of the river. Before he arrived at the downstream, he changed his mind again and he turned his boat for the second time. At the end he didn’t manage to attend any of the parties and his dream about having delicious food was gone. Ever since that day, people in his village called him Pak Lebai Malang. Read full story..

13. Si Pitung

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a man named Pitung in a small village called Rawabelong. He was really skillful in martial arts. His father was a farmer and at that time all farmers in his village were oppressed by the colonial government and its crew.

Complication

Pitung confronted the crew of the colonial government when they raid the villagers livestock and crop. The incident had made Pitung to be a fugitive and the colonial government sent a lot of troops to catch him. Pitung assembled a  team and he moved from one place to the others in order to escape the colonial government.

Resolution

The colonial government caught Pitung’s father and use him as a hostage to ask Pitung to surrender. Finally Pitung gave himself in and the colonial government set his father free, but the troops were not instructed to catch Pitung, they were instructed to shoot him on sight. So when they already had Pitung in front of them, all troops fire their weapon toward Pitung’s body and in instant his body fell to the ground. Read full story..

14. Sang Kabelah

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a boy with a unique physical condition. The boy only had one ear, one eye, one hand and also one foot. His name was Kabelah. He lived with his parents in a small village in Lampung.

Complication

Kabelah didn’t have any friend, because all teenager in his neighborhood considered him as a freak. He tried to be patient with this condition until one day he felt that he had reached his limit so he talked to his parents about his condition. His parents said that there was nothing that they could do to change the condition.

Resolution

Kabelah decided to go on a journey to find the God because he wanted to find a way out of his problem. There was nothing that his parents could do to stop him, so they let him go on his journey. On his journey, Kabelah ran into an arrogant man and also a group of robber. When he managed to find solution of his problem, Kabelah returned to his village. On his way back, he made a quick stop at the group of robber and also at the arrogant man. He told them his experience and based on his story, the group of robber and the arrogant man realized their wrongdoing and decided to change it. When Kabelah arrived at his house, his parents invited all people in their village to their house and they change Kabelah’s name into Muhammad Syukur. Read full story..

15. Putri Gading Cempaka

Orientation

Once upon a time in Bengkulu, there lived a very beautiful princess named Putri Gading Cempaka. So many men tried to propose her but all of them were rejected by her father, The king. Before the king passed away, he gave a prophecy to Putri Gading Cempaka about her future husband, and the king also asked her to keep waiting until the man in the prophecy came to propose her.

Complication

One day, a prince from Aceh came to their land to propose Putri Gading Cempaka. But the proposal was rejected because the prince was not the person in the prophecy. The prince was so disappointed and he declares a war. The battle last for days and it caused so many casualties in both side. The leader from each kingdom withdrew their remaining troops and left the battlefield empty.

Resolution

A wise man by the name Maharaja Sakti came to the land and help to rebuild the kingdom. When he found out about Putri Gading Cempaka, he dcided to propose her and the princess accepeted the proposal as Maharaja Sakti was the man in the prophecy. They held a big wedding party in the palace and they became the new ruler of the kingdom. Read full story..

16. Siamang Putih

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful princess in Tiku beach of West Sumatra. Her name is Putri Julian. Her family was very rich and her grandfather was the king of Pagaruyung Kingdom. She waited for so long for a handsome and wealthy man to propose her and to make her his wife.

Complication

One day, a man named Sutan Rumandang came to Pagaruyung Kingdom. Putri Julian fell in love with the prince and asked her family to propose him. Sutan Rumandang agreed to the proposal but he wanted to go on an adventure first before he married someone, so Sutan Rumandang and Putri Julian made a vow that they will be faithful to each other.

Resolution

Years passed by, but there was no news from Sutan Rumandang. One day, a handsome ship’s captain came to the kingdom, Putri Julian broke her vow and she got married with the ship’s captain. On the wedding day, Putri Julian’s body turned into white siamang because she broke her promise. A bad luck also happened to Sutan Rumandang who happened to broke his promise too. Read full story..

17. Buaya Perompak

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a ferocious crocodile in Tulang Bawang river in Lampung. The crocodile was actually a pirate. He turned into a crocodile because he was cursed by someone who hate his action. People who lived near the river were afraid of the crocodile, because there were so many missing person cases.

Complication

The crocodile fell in love with a girl. Her name is Aminah. One morning, the crocodile kidnapped Aminah and brought her down to his cave under the river. The crocodile asked Aminah to stay with him in the cave and became his companion. When Aminah asked to go home, the crocodile threatened to kill her.

Resolution

Aminah decided to pretend that she agreed to stay with the crocodile in his cave. She asked the crocodile to tell her everything about the cave and himself. Based on the crocodile’s story, Aminah managed to find information about an escape route that she could use to get out of the cave. One day, when the crocodile was sleeping, Aminah sneaked into a small tunnel that lead to the outside of the cave. Finally, she managed to came out of the cave and she returned to her house. 18. Telu Pak

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived a spoil child in a village in Lampung. His name was Buyung. His parents were so rich and they treated him like king. He never tried to do anything useful for himself and he always spend his money on unimportant things. One day he fell in love with a beautiful girl and decided to marry her right away. They lived in luxury in Buyung’s house.

Complication

When his parents passed away, Buyung inherited all treasure from his parents. Buyung and his wife started to run out of money as they only thought of spending their money without doing anything to make any earnings. The sold everything including their house in order to get money for their daily need. They were forced to move to a smaller house.

Resolution

Buyung decided to go on a journey to find clarity for his mind so that he could do something to change his life. On his journey, he met four teachers who gave him some important lessons. He tried to carry out the lessons and his life started to be better. After that he decided to change his name into Telu Pak. The word “Pak” in his new name means “four” in his local language. 19. Si Kepar

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a little boy named Kepar in south east Aceh. He only lived with his mother because his father went away when he was one year old. He never knew the story about his father because his mother never told him. He never asked about it until one day his friends started to call him as a fatherless boy. He was ashamed and angry at that time.

Complication

Kepar forced his mother to tell him about his father and finally he found out the truth about his father from his mother. He finally knew that his father was still alive and that he lived somewhere far away from his village. He wanted to bring back his parents so that he could have a father and his friends would never called him fatherless boy anymore.

Resolution

Kepar went to the location of his father and introduced himself as his son. After that, Kepar set a meeting for his parents in a village near the location of his father. When his father and his mother saw each other, they recognized each other right away. They talked about so many things and they both realize their mistakes in the past. They decided to forgive each other and they also decided to remarried. A week later, they gor married and Kepar was so happy with their decision. Read full story..

20. Suwidak Loro

Orientation

A long time ago, there lived a girl in a small village in Java. She only had sixty two hairs on her head and her name is Suwidak Loro which means “sixty-two” in the local language. She lived with her mother who loved her so much although she had ugly appearance. Her mother would sing every night praising her appearance as if she was the most beautiful girl in the village.

Complication

Some of her neighbor came to her house one day. They complain about Suwidak Loro’s mother’s song that they heard every night. They said that they couldn’t sleep because Suwidak Loro’s mother’s voice was too loud. Suwidak Loro’s mother ignore their complaint and she kept singing the song every night.

Resolution

One of Suwidak Loro neighbors couldn’t take it anymore, so he reported the problem to the king. When the king heard the report from Suwidak Loro neighbor, he became curious about the beauty of Suwidak Loro, so the king decided to propose her. He sent some troops to pick up Suwidak Loro from her village and brought her to the palace. On the journey to the palace, Suwidak Loro met a goddess and she change her face with the goddess face in exchange for some food. 21. Si Molek

Orientation

Once upon a time, there lived seven sisters at the shore in Riau. They were the daughters of a fisherman. The youngest daughter was very different with the other sisters. She was diligent and kind to others and her name is Molek. Molek’s sisters always treated her badly but Molek never tried to avenge them.

Complication

Molek and her sisters were famous among men in the village because they were so beautiful. Realizing their attractive appearance, Molek sisters became so arrogant. They refused all proposal from lowly man because they thought that they deserved to marry a king or a wealthy man. One day, a giant fish came to their house to propose one of the fisherman’s daughters. All Molek’s sisters refused the proposal, they even said that the giant fish was disgusting. But, it was different with Molek, she accepted the proposal.

Resolution

Molek and the giant fish got married and live together as husband and wife. Their life was so happy as they love each other so much. One day, Molek found out that her husband was actually a handsome man who can transform into a fish form. She also found out that her husband was a very diligent fisherman.
